From Sundance so far...
First: I have to note following Sundance is so frustrating because people talk up movies that I want to see right NOW and then they don’t come out for months or if ever and then I forget about them until they show up on netflix instant or something.
- Been hearing good things about John Hawkes in The Surrogate but that is not a movie I’d see in theaters, only on DVD.
- Celeste and Jessie Forever looks like something I’d like; I love Rashida Jones and I tolerate Andy Samberg outside of great digital skits. Most likely I will see this in theaters if it comes nearby and gets good enough reviews.
- Interest in Elizabeth Olsen aside, it’d take a lot for me to watch Liberal Arts on anything else than netflix instant late at night when I’m bored and restless. A story of a 30 year old man falling for a 19 year old does not interest me at all, but I’d love to be proved wrong.
- Robot and Frank sounds very interesting and less soft than what it did before. Of course this will probably not come near me at all or at the most inopportune time.
- Love Brit Marling. Do not like later Richard Gere. Not fond of financial dramas. So no go on Arbitrage for me unless the reviews are excellent, and even then only on dvd.
- Female Deliverance? So will there be a ‘squeal piggy’ scene, if not, don’t call it a female Deliverance, Black Rock. Also, I am not a major fan of Kate Bosworth.
- OH dear, The Comedy sounds like one of my anti-movies. I can’t wait to read the reviews about it though. AV Club, Hollywood Elsewhere, various people whose comments confuse and amuse me regularly, do not disappoint me.
- Please let The Words channel Secret Window
- V/H/S looks interesting but I am not a fan of 90% of found footage films, so maybe on DVD.
- For a Good Time Call has some of my favorites in it so I’ll try it out at some point.
- Beasts of the Southern Wild looks like it has fantastic cinematography (from what I can see in one picture…) and I’m hoping for a bit of wonder within the film. Maybe.
- Save the Date. Yes, already made a post on it.
- Bachelorette is a very likely yes b/c I love comedies, Kirsten Dunst, and what I’ve heard about it sounds like something I’ll like. Dreading the Bridesmaids comparisons already.
